I think it is a valid question. I also believe, the left would be terribly mistaken, if they actually believed a couple hundred thousand deaths would quell the issue. Every one hears, and talks about the I%, II% and III%'s, the militias and paramilitary groups, but fail to realize that once a move of confiscation is enacted, it would effect millions of Americans, from both sides of the aisle. I personally know quite a lot of law abiding people, that would become enraged, very willing to fight for their rights.
I believe the left thinks such an act would be pretty straight forward, with limited bloodshed, what with the military backing their every whim and order. What they fail to realize is that PVT Snork comes from the communities and families that he/she has just been ordered to disarm. PVT/Airman Snork is not an idiot, at least knows and somewhat understands the meaning of the oath they have taken and what an enemy constitutes, foreign or domestic. LCPL Snork is not going to use violence against Grandpa/Uncle/Cousin Snork, to take away their firearms. Would there be some in the military that would follow these orders? Yes, I believe there would, but not to the extent the left hopes.
That would leave the enforcement on the Police, or a foreign military (UN) group. Police agencies are woefully under staffed, even if they were to attempt enforcing large scale confiscations, it would turn out disaterous. This leaves a foreign military. I mentioned millions above, an attempt would probably not draw out Millions of defenders of the 2A if it was being handled from within. But, request a foreign military to enforce its will, on American soil, I would bet my next years salary that it would be MILLIONZ, with a Z, that would go to war. And the those that brought foreigners in to the country would have no where to hide, once the bloodshed has ended.
We are in the final throes of the the saying, "hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good .... times create weak men". It is now the time for strong men to step forward.
