What's good for one is good for all. Let's limit Congress first!

Capt Gregory Prickett The state has a governor and a legislature/assembly to represent them. So why do we need Senators representing the state and not the people? Perhaps critics are right that the Senate should be dissolved. Elected officials in a democratic republic should represent the majority (not minority) that elected them. A gerrymandered state that represents the minority that appoints federal representatives that also represent the minorities interest is a disservice to the Republic. No let the majority voices be heard.

MAJ James Woods - the state legislature and governor have no role in the federal system. The Founding Fathers were scared of a democracy, which is why they set the United States up as a republic, and in the legislative branch the House represented the People and the Senate represented the States.

You may want to read Federalist 62 & 63.

Capt Gregory Prickett Of course the governors have a role in federal politics. They court Congressmen and meet the president all the time about policy and federal funding that will impact their states, their local economies, their residents.
Senators constantly push legislation that will benefit their states ; it’s just a matter of does it benefit their workers or the business elites. The people should have a voice as to who represents them in federal government at the district level and state level.
For argument sake, the recent actions of the Wisconsin, Michigan and North Carolina GOP controlled legislatures are cause for why US senators should be chosen by the people and not the legislature. They tend to act in defiance of what their constituents want.

MAJ James Woods - sorry, but you're wrong. State officials have no impact on the federal government, unless they bring a lawsuit in federal court.

As for the People having a voice? The Founders gave them a voice, called the House of Representatives.

LOL, good luck. You have to amend the Constitution. The claim that you can do it by legislation is BS.

The article did mention it would take a Constitutional amendment but there are those debating maybe not. That’s not new but either way I would love to see term limits across the board. Just feels like those in lifetime positions thinks they’re untouchable.

MAJ James Woods - what we actually need to do is expand lifetime judicial appointments to the States, and to repeal the 17th Amendment.
