I would first require an in-depth look at just where and for what that proposed spending would go for. Then I would ask if it was necessary? I am a strong supporter of our military, but is this spending for them or for the huge suppliers of war materiel?

Agree - no doubt there is waste in DoD (and everywhere else in the federal government). Need to have a 'Gold Commission' like there was for BRAC to eliminate redundancy in the government.

Eliminate Department of Education, get the Federal government out of the banking and healthcare business, end all foreign aid and put that $$ toward our defense.

MSG Stan Hutchison - So that means the Federal Government can purchase every American citizen a firearm so they can exercise their 2A Rights.

MSG Stan Hutchison - I understand that and we need to go far beyond just getting rid of the Federal Department. We should get the states to agree to a standardized outcome and allocate spending that way as well as develop efficiencies between states in spending money and educating students.

SPC Erich Guenther - Now, if you can get all 50 states and all the territories to agree to one set standard, I would agree. Hell, try to get them to agree to anything.

It’s a matter of priorities. The previous administration cut the defense budget and added sequestration that it will take decades for the military to recover. At the same time, it spent billions on social programs. Clearly, defense was not a priority.

If I was in charge, I would reverse the process. Spend more on defense and less on social programs.

However, there is still plenty of waste in DOD that needs to be cleaned up.
