The White House offers this process "to allow individuals to petition the administration to take action on a range of issues." It's their right (our right) to do this, so I don't see a problem with people exercising their rights. Seems like 1LT Lorance's supporters feel very strongly that he was wrongly accused and convicted, so they're asking the White House to intervene.

I see your point, LTC (Join to see), about the petition putting the White House in a tough position, but I'll bet a lot of the petitions at "We the people" are controversial.

When I first read about 1LT Lorance's story, I thought that he was wrongfully accused, that he was just doing his job. But after reading about the testimony of the people who were right there and working for him, I changed my mind. According to them, he was a bit of a loose cannon.

I believe POTUS will only pay it lip service and move on. It's a shame that this has happened, however, there are two sides to every story. Recently his platoon has even spoken out against him.

No, I don't think the WH should get involved. this is a criminal matter. We have a court-martial process and appeals process. Once due process, thru the system have been conducted, Carry out the punishment

This is not going to work. The President will merely state that he respects the judicial process and that it needs to run its course.

To even start the process on a federal crime, the petition isn't accepted until 5 years have passed, and if it is in the appeal process, the petition is denied, which means another 2 year wait.

On military crimes, the petition has to be submitted to the Secretary of that branch, in this case the Army. Of course, they will deny it, since the appeal is pending.

Nothing is going to happen.
