LTC Jason Mackay I am no English Major, but I have a decent understanding of writing rules and grammar. But I have noticed a disturbing trend of “bad” writing in the senior enlisted ranks.
After completing SSD4, which emphasizes the Army writing style, I can only assume that poor, impersonal writing is institutional. For these soldiers who have been doing this much longer than I, I almost can’t even be mad at them.
To see that the Army is increasing it’s emphasis on writing is a great thing. Let’s see where it goes.
Don’t get me wrong, not all enlisted writers are “bad.” In fact, I’ve probably encountered way more talented enlisted writers. However, when writing and the general employment of the English language is bad, it’s ‘BAD’!
***now please internet, critique my writing to remind me how bad I am at writing

Sir thank you for the mention and consideration.
Following the link and reading through what I could in just a few minutes I have available it seems like they’re looking for active duty NCOs, and alas that I am no longer.
