President Trump is in a war with the "bias" mainstream media, obstructionist democrats and the deep state so artfully place by the Obama administration. He fights back with his wits, Fox news and an account called twitter. If the democrats got their wish, it would be that he could never deliver the State Of The Union Address because this is when hundreds of millions of Americans will tune in, those on the right already aware of his administration's accomplishments will simply have reaffirmation while those who have been told that Fox News and its affiliates are of the devil will here things that they never heard before on the drive-by media networks.
His enemies have one goal in mind, to get him out of office by any means possible.
Here's a novel idea I know, but why not let the american citizens decide in 2020.

And we stray further off topic. If our support for...or hate for...Trump has to enter every discussion, we miss the opportunity to find some common ground with respect to the notion that a profession like journalism can be held to some standards. For example, should a professional journalist be allowed or encouraged by his editorial staff to write stories based on an uncorroborated account by a single source who refuses to be cited (named)?

Col, I thought my comments were in keeping with the original post. As far as a common ground, you are correct. it will always be litmus tested by for or against President Trump.
Sad, but true, I believe the days of civil discourse on any aspects of politics are quickly fading.
Every time the President speaks in a formal gathering or off-the-cuff, the "fact checkers" are there like a pack of vultures lying in wait and ready to pounce to pick the last piece of flesh off the carcass that lays before them.
For someone to say something untruthful doesn't not quantify it necessarily as a lie.
First the person making the statement has to know the truth and second they knowingly with deceitful intentions distort it...that is a "lie".
Donald Trump was in the public lime-light for over 30 years and not once was he accuse of being a racist; it was only after he became President that his name became synonymous with racism. A man who was in the business world for over thirty years with no incidents of racism doesn't become a racist overnight.
Agreed, on many occasions the President thoughts are not as organized when they hit his lips and are uttered, yet in every occasion, be it in a long draw out way he gets his complete thoughts out, unfortunately the buzzards are hovering over head ready to swoop down and pick away the flesh of the parts that suite them, while leaving the rest to interpretation.
