A reasonable interpretation of the situation. Sadly, many will dismiss it without reading simply because it appeared on Breitbart

“I say President Trump is right, we completed our mission, destroyed the enemy and it’s finally time to bring our troops home and declare victory.”

Except the mission isn’t complete and the enemy isn’t destroyed. I’m not opposed to leaving Syria, but don’t just say ‘we win’, and come home. That’s naive. (He’s right on a few things. We’re not going to change their minds. I think We have to change what ‘victory’ looks like or be prepared to leave without victory).

COL Maness used the word ‘swamp’ six times in his article. Probably not a coincidence. It’s possible that when seeing how the President can publicly treat retired military officers who are seen to be disloyal that the COL is getting ahead of that wave and getting into the good graces of the President. ‘See sir, I publicly supported you’. Call me cynical.

Additionally, his upfront assesments are a bit shaky. ‘Re-building’ the military? It wasn’t torn down to begin with. (It needed, and needs, improvements). ‘Destroying ISIS’. Except, it’s not. ‘Ending the Iran deal’. Too early to tell if that’s a great move or not. ‘De-escalating tensions with North Korea’. More like ‘appeased North korea’. They stopped testing sh*tty missiles. They still have nukes. They weren’t going to attack us or S. korea two years ago, and they aren’t going to tomorrow. But hey, a one on one with the American President validates them. Well done.

I actually like Breitbart. I’m not giving this op-Ed too much weight, though, because it’s not particularly well thought out.

Best of luck

I agree with his assessment for one we will never change how those in the middle east think, the mind set is just different. Short of a complete military take over and decades occupation of the region we are in a no win scenario, Countries like Iran and Russian will just give aid and support to any faction that opposes the U.S. dragging us down in a never ending war.

Lost me at "de-escalating tensions with North Korea." The war with Korea that Trump helped us "avoid," and de-escalation, was a situation he escalated.

NK has a long history of escalating tensions, not sure how Trump is to blame.

Trump before being elected repeatedly insulted Kim Jong Un, calling him a "man child" and a "wack job."
Bunch of "Rocket Man" tweets.
There is this statement:
North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen. He has been very threatening … and as I said they will be met with fire, fury and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.
