SGT (Join to see) PVT Mark Zehner SPC Douglas Bolton MSgt David Hoffman Lt Col Charlie Brown Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth My grandfather, Robert Coalman Jones, (Note: middle name spelling is correct; has a history in itself) worked as a groundskeeper and general mechanic for the Wallace's in the early years of the 1900's. Grandpa Jones occasionally courted the lady that became my grandmother in what our family lore held as the town of Crawfordsville's "first horseless carriage" lent to him by his employer. This article does not mention the fact that his relief of command following the battle of Shiloh was almost assuredly unjustified (certainly in his mind and...) in the minds of several historians; i.e., he was used as a scapegoat by Grant and Sherman. Like to add also that Lew Wallace is one of two Hoosiers honored with a statue in the Capitol Rotunda Hall of Statuary in Washington, D.C. as seen here.
