PVT Mark Brown that is a powerful post my friend. Though should any of us be surprised. The President has given discretionary powers to fire those employees who are not working in the best interest of veterans. Now He needs to insure that more cases like this don't happen, and insure that there is a financial recourse commensurate with the Damage Done. And we see once again how delays have caused what could have been at the beginning a curable outcome.

Cpl Scott McCarroll Yeah, brother. I have been dealing with the neurology (sp) dept at the VA here and the doctors I have been seeing have all been contract providers. Each and every one of them has only had 3 month contracts and usually do not return. Has really messed up my treatment for something they call myoclonis (sp?) Scary. I sometimes can not get treatment or even an appointment. They don't even have PA here for that specialty. It has been suggested that I try for an outside doc with my little white card. We will see.....I don't have much confidence. So, I just suffer on and pray to God for His healing help.

Disturbing, but not unusual in medical profession. Anyone who has ever encountered out of network anesthesiologist or other specialists during procedures knows this well.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen Sir, I don't like your comment, worries me. I have just learned that my therapist at the VA has violated my assumed privacy and confidentiality (they DO NOT exist at the VA.) I am going to be looking for mental health care outside the VA.

PVT Mark Brown Unfortunately this is something we must deal with in the medical world. Just because someone works at a given institution does not mean they accept the conditions of that instution, especially when it comes to billing. Violating privacy is a whole different issue, but it all comes down to the terms of their contract with the VA.

PVT Mark Brown the VA employees are still bound by HIPAA laws. VA contractors, by law should have signed a HIPAA compliance document. Once that is done, the employing agency is responsible for any HIPAA claims.
