Yeah, I'd heard about it...I never quite understood why the services just never directly requisitioned USPHS clinical active duty staff generally, they already do for the psych-related fields, one would quite logically expect the same could certainly be arranged for other clinical areas, in addition to seeking to make more active use of VA facilities near active-duty, Guard, and Reserve installations, as well as to allow VA Choice to be used by all service members, in addition to both CHAMPVA and TRICARE, you know? Just a thought, at any rate....

Great thoughts although I never see the VA going along with any co-operative efforts to share their facilities.

I have, trust me, they do, I trained at several VA hospitals before my total perm disability, I saw numerous instances of active duty, Guard, and Reserve being treated at VA facilities, installations are allowed to draw on VA if VA has something a service unit needs, that isn't readily at hand, I assure you, I did positively see it...when I was examined for Army ROTC, I was sent to a USPHS clinic for the exam, as well, though that was obviously longer ago than I even care to recall at times, back when dinos walked the Earth, of course...I assure you, been there, done that (BTDT)....

And when I was doing my clinical allied health doctorate, I also trained under a USPHS O-6, he was one of my rotation attendings during my externships, I'd really wanted to go USPHS, however, the disability obviously bollixed all that up, unfortunately....

Ya, I agree. I just can't help but draw a parallel with the housing thing going on here and at other bases. The exact same justification was given for why it would be so much better when contractors took over base housing.
