Much like its cousin the Nobel Peace Prize the Pulitzer has ceased to have any credibility. Would be much more accurate if WaPo and NYT received Oscar's for Actor/Actress in a supporting role.

The scientific and mathematics Nobel Prize still has credibility, literature on occasion is still credible.
