She represents an area with a large number of resettled Somali constituents who came over in the 90's. So I'm not surprised that she was elected.

What I am surprised at is; that if her mind set is representative of her district then the folks don't seem to have assimilated well into the American mainstream.

And yet... Her point is valid. We assume that if someone who is "like us" does something despicable, it is because they are defective. We assume that is someone who is "different" does something despicable, it is because they are different, and anyone who is similarly different understands and identifies with the despicable actor. We rarely consider that the "different" person was ALSO defective, and not representative of all of the similarly "different" people.

Speak for yourself. I judge people by the content of their character, and she and Omar have clearly demonstrated they are wanting in that regard regardless of their ethnicity or any other surface feature.
