First this guy is using absolutes, any biblical scholar will tell you the old testament was written by an ancient people using their knowledge of the world as they existed, which was the middle east etc, there was no knowledge of 80% of the rest of the world at that time, and they used time frames that they could understand, not eon or centuries that we know today. He is wrong on the slaves in Egypt as well, now the terminology used in some ancient times would have been servant or servitude because you had a class structure during that time period, but slavery as we define it did exist. Here is my question is he going to discuss the countless stories and towns etc that have been proven by archeologist over the past 50 years. But I find that hard core atheist tend to spend more of their life worrying about Christians than most Christians even think about them. I also find that most atheist in this country spend all of their time fighting against christians but have almost nothing to say about other religions.

SSG (Join to see) - OK, for the sake of argument, let's say that he's using absolutes. How does that address any of the Biblical falsehoods that he brings up? I'm assuming that you are stating that the Flood must have been a local one, but that doesn't address the lack of space on the boat, or the fact that it would be unseaworthy. As to Egypt, your statement on slaves or servants doesn't address the archeological and historical evidence of the Jewish scholars. They (and most others) point out that there is no evidence of Jews being in Egypt. You don't even begin to address the other claims.

Finally, I'm also not convinced by other religions, such as Islam's claim that Mohammed flew to heaven on a winged horse. But I live in a society dominated by Christians, and face the efforts by them to incorporate their religion into our secular government.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - the only thing that you can assume by the label atheist is that the person doesn't believe in a god or gods. Most Buddhists are atheists, and they clearly believe in organized religion.

Absolutes mean he thinks the bible is talking about the entire world, when in context it is only referencing what the people at the time viewed as the entire world was only a small portion. Thus the entire number of animals would not have been that great, and the so called ark would have or could have been the size mentioned in the bible, and yes archeologist have proven there was a localized flood in the area that would have been quite large. I personally do not take everything in the bible as fact but going off the deep end to prove Christians wrong is just stupid as well. It is obvious the guy has a hatred of christians or an obsession with them.

SSG (Join to see) - I doubt very seriously that Mr. Atheist has a hatred of Christians. It's just not that common in the atheist community. And disagreeing with the religious dogma of a group does not equate to hatred.

However, getting back to the flood, whether it was localized or not, the boat still could not hold that many animals, nor was it seaworthy, and certainly not for the period of time stated in the Bible. It's not just one issue that cries out that the tale is false, it's many.

Many people will see this and believe it. I think you should have this under humor.

SCPO Morris Ramsey - I do not pity myself. I have a great life without your god and all of the other gods that people believe in without evidence.

SCPO Morris Ramsey - "Christians are disbelievers for believing in the divinity of Christ." Sura 5:17

Why is yours true and theirs false?

FN Phil Goins - I know exactly what I'm saying. I'm saying that unless there is reliable, falsifiable, repeatable evidence for god, I'm not going to accept your claims (or the claims of others) that he exists.

And why do I care? Because the religious keep trying to push their views on society, and by enacting laws that harm others, based solely on their religion.
