If one of the preparators is an MMA fighter, he would know the difference between choking someone out vs killing the victim.

Additionally, if the perpetrators were decent humans, they’d know the difference between hazing/teaching a lesson (or whatever other b*llshit they’re trying to spin) and breaking into a sleeping guy’s room with a sledgehammer with 4 of your friends, a video camera and an African thug about to rape said sleeping guy before he’s murdered.
If that’s their story and their sticking to it, cool; It was just a self-policing sesh gone terribly wrong. But if those are the rules you write, those are the rules you play by. As punishment, every few nights, after they’re allowed to fall asleep, their cells should be violently breached by about a half dozen highly trained operators who are armed only with a sledge hammer, duct tape, video camera and one ill-intentioned, malnourished African.
On their down days, make them write wacky stuff on a black board, Bart Simpson style. “You can’t break a SEAL, but you can pop his cherry!” Anyway, a few months of that routine should do some permanent damage. Then just lock them away and make sure that they know the world has forgotten them.
