Satan only attacks those that stand with God, we must always be on the defensive against him.

That's a load of crap. There is no choosing when there is no evidence supporting your assertion that a god or gods exist. Rational people to not believe in something without that evidence.

Second, there are not only "two" choices. How do you know that Allah is not real? Or the Eightfold Path of Buddhism? Or Vishnu? Or Odin? Zeus?

Capt Gregory Prickett - My point was not that we should:
_Place scriptural texts on tables at mess nights, or
_Offer thanks to God at a change of Command Ceremony, or
_Force service members to participate in a ceremony (presence does not constitute participation, no one is asking them to ceremoniously disembowel a goat.), or
_Force service members to attend a ceremony of which a portion has religious content

My point was, if the above constitutes a violation of the separation of church and state, so does your compulsory survey of religion course for all students. Separation of church and state restricts transgression in BOTH directions or it allows transgressions in BOTH directions.

"...we have so many uneducated people as to religion." So what? Why is educating people about any religion or every religion an appropriate role for the state?

We NEVER established in another thread that I would vote against a politician's based solely that person's religious beliefs. So YDRC. This is the second time you have falsely made that assertion. Either your memory is faulty, or it is a strawman intended for third parties. Prove it or retract it.

You aren't forming credible hypotheses and theories about the Laws of Physics. Physicists are. I did not refer to YOUR simplifying assumptions. As far as simplifying assumptions, read the link.

Capt Gregory Prickett - In response to your "Looking at your examples." comments.

Yes, I am willing for other religious texts or religious icons to be on the memorial table at a mess night. And whatever atheists feel is appropriate to represent atheists that have given their last full measure.

Which God? Typically the Change of Command Ceremony is about the incoming CO, so I guess it would be her/his call.

Forcing a service member to participate in a religious ceremony? Requiring them to take communion, or get circumcised, or fast for Ramadan, or cut the goat's throat would be participation. Mere courteous presence doesn't constitute participation.

What constitutes displaying a religious text "...in a manner that indicates a bias...?"

Maj John Bell - "bow your head" in prayer is requiring them to participate in a religious ceremony.

Capt Gregory Prickett - That's funny. You really have heightened sensibilities.

I honestly cannot remember a Chaplain of any denomination saying anything besides "Please bow your heads." I never considered it an order, just a non-obligatory request. In my atheist/agnostic days, I never bowed my head, nor for the most part did the majority of the "not particularly religious" Marines and Sailors in the formation, let alone the atheists and agnostics. I have never heard a single case of a of counseling, reprimand, informal punishment, NJP, or Court-martial for failure to bow one's head. Have you?
