This training event is open to all Army Reserve Soldiers, NCOs, and Officers. The comprehensive small arms training includes use of both primary and secondary issue weapons conducted in issue uniform and gear against a variety of targetry and challenging scenarios to encourage problem solving and critical thinking under stress to improve lethality and combat readiness within the Army Reserve. Reserve Soldiers can participate individually and as a team. Instruction, qualification, and Excellence In Competition (EIC) are available for all participants.

Yeah application is in now for direct commissioning course. Then probably going to BOLC the first Reserves course offered in 2020. I am going to definitely keep this bookmarked though. I used to love competition shooting and 3 gun matches SFC(P) (Join to see)

Another option is to attend some local matches - including Excellence-in-Competition matches. If you are in the top 10 % of the match, you earn points towards a Distinguished Pistol or Rifle Badge. Even before you "go Distinguished" you get to wear a special badge on your Class As. They are typically civilian matches, the Army Reserve Small Arms Championships being an exception, but you still earn a military award.

I've even taken groups of interested soldiers to local matches to compete on a drill weekend - they needed to bring their own personally owned weapon and ammo, but it worked. (It can be a logistical nightmare to try to convince some BNs to allocate ammo for a civilian-run match).
