Sir, it is possible to get a waiver with a statement of intent to attend BOLC (probably need a school date though).

Yeah application is in now for direct commissioning course. Then probably going to BOLC the first Reserves course offered in 2020. I am going to definitely keep this bookmarked though. I used to love competition shooting and 3 gun matches SFC(P) (Join to see)

Another option is to attend some local matches - including Excellence-in-Competition matches. If you are in the top 10 % of the match, you earn points towards a Distinguished Pistol or Rifle Badge. Even before you "go Distinguished" you get to wear a special badge on your Class As. They are typically civilian matches, the Army Reserve Small Arms Championships being an exception, but you still earn a military award.

List of upcoming EIC matches - https://ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.php?do=matchRegistrationListUpcoming&filter=designation&filter_value=EIC
I've even taken groups of interested soldiers to local matches to compete on a drill weekend - they needed to bring their own personally owned weapon and ammo, but it worked. (It can be a logistical nightmare to try to convince some BNs to allocate ammo for a civilian-run match).
