Good morning RP. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "NGC 1566: The Spanish Dancer Spiral Galaxy." About 40 million light years away in the constellation Dorado, NGC 1566 is classified as a Seyfert galaxy due to its bright center. The centres of such galaxies are very active and luminous, emitting strong bursts of radiation and potentially harbouring supermassive black holes that are many millions of times the mass of the Sun.
NGC 1566 is visible in the Southern Hemisphere (G'day Cynthia Croft) near the South Elliptic Pole. I didn't think about flamenco our APOD came up today, but I did think one thing: that's beautiful.
