I don't know how I feel about this. This wasn't a case of an overzealous prosecutor going after an operator. This was a platoon accusing their senior of war crimes.
Also, he wasn't found not guilty, simply acquitted. It means the prosecution couldn't sufficiently prove their case. So you're left with one of two distasteful out omes. Either - a) you have a war criminal who was reported by their platoon and was disregard, and now you have a bunch of disillusioned Sailors, or b) you have a platoon of NCOs conspiring deeply to accuse their senior NCO of the worst things possible. Both are extremely bad outcomes for the Navy and the members of his platoon.

Great points SFC.
My thoughts were on the jury. It had combat Marine Staff NCO's. To me, they would have found him guilty if they thought he was.
That is just my 2cts as I was around a lot of two tours Vietnam Senior NCO's. Nice folks. Until you cross them.
I do understand your points. But don't you think there is some middle ground when our blood pressure is high at the sight of a dead animal? Because, it could have a IED in it? Or, we watched our own lose their life being nice?
I am not trying to argue with you SFC. I suppose, I am emotionally involved. Those who should be shot on site due to not wearing a uniform during war fighting and justifying the murder of women and children who are not part of the religion of submission lost one of their own and I am not sad about it.
I am sad about the endless war with those who have been making endless war with the Infidel for the last 1400yrs. If we do not take the gloves off, we will be fighting this ideology in the field for another 1400yrs.
Thank you for your service to our country. I wish you and yours a happy and safe 4th of July SFC.

Cpl Mark A. Morris I don't have any personal feelings about whether the fighter should have been killed or not. I view this trial not as a fight between the prosecution and the defense, but as a fight between the members of the seal team. His own team of experienced operators clearly thought he crossed some moral boundaries. When you're in a unit as small and tightly knit as that, in a community that takes care of its own, the stand they took is a big deal. I don't care about the fighter, I care that as a leader his actions were so egregious that his team felt duty bound to turn him in.

I've never known how to feel about this guy either. I see a bunch of dudes just blindly supporting this guy, but I don't know what to think. We don't know who this guy is- he could be Father Theresa or some messed up, crazy dude- we just don't know. The stuff he's being accused of isn't implausible, we just don't know. Be careful who you support.
