Absolutely important. Without pollinators we wouldn't enjoy nearly as many fruits and veggies.

Excellent eco heads-up post!
Have two friends that are beekeepers (one in residential Palo Alto of all places, the other in a more rural area of Oregon - both have gifted us a few jars).
Agree 100% as to the importance of bees.
As to being #1 living being, I'll just fly with them being right at the top (of ensuring the food chain).
