Tens of thousands of people illegally entering our country a month is an invasion. Do us all a favor, crack open a dictionary. Not every invasion is armed and by an organized military. The word has multiple definitions, like many words do.

If Trump is responsible for El Paso then Sanders is responsible for the congressional baseball shooting (a supporter of his) and Warren is responsible for the recent shooting in Dayton (a supported of hers). AOC gets responsibility for the shooter at the ICE facility a few weeks ago, he used her concentrations camps language before shooting up the ICE facility. We will assign blame for Chicago to Obama. He is from there, lived there a long time and did nothing about it of any consequence. See how easy this is.

Perhaps you might want to consider a wiser, better informed path (not likely with you Ray). Perhaps these mass shooters(in many cases) are mentally ill and did what they did because of the illness. We, as Americans, should be able to have political discourse, even tough discourse without fear, without blaming each other for the acts of a few nut cases. Our freedom to speak freely should not be constrained by mentally ill people that might get enraged.

SSgt Joseph Baptist - That is a nice angle Joseph. So people like Ray that blur the lines between illegal and legal immigration and like to confuse and conflate them for political purposes may have actually set the shooter off.

Ray, do you feel responsible for this? I mean, you did participate in missing up legal and illegal immigration and might have in some way contributed to this. See how your flawed, failed, childlike logic breaks down?

I knew you'd fly in here cape on to defend your racist leader with fox news alt right talking points. Mentioning AOC and Obama is bullsh@#t false equivalency being that they have never used hostile hateful rhetoric directed at a specific group to incite violence and foment domestic terrorism.

SSgt Ray Stone - Not a false equivalency, an actual equivalency. AOC did call the immigration shelters concentration camps. She did use the Nazi language to demonize ICE and CPB. The shooter that showed up used that very language about concentration camps on the border.

If Trump used the word "socialist" in describing the dem party today, and aliens came from outer space and ate all the socialists, would that be Trump's fault too?

SSgt Ray Stone - You are an elementary racist Ray. The definition of the word that means straight forward and uncomplicated, I would add simple too. You project here on RP all the time attempting to label others with the things you know to be true about yourself.

Some others here have already made this point, but I'll add my $.02.

The difference between words and deeds is immense and critical. If some insane person hypothetically decided that they would shoot everyone they knew who smoked because they worried about the health effects...would that make everyone who opposed smoking a potential murderer? There is a crisis related to immigration in this country; it creates potential for many problems, ranging from socio-political to economic, and with little in the way of "easy" answers. Speaking personally, while I want our nation to remain a place of refuge and opportunity for people everywhere...I also want to be certain the safety and prosperity of those already legally here, regardless of ethnicity or "nation of origin", are maintained.

Do I agree with everything the President says? No. Frankly, I fear a great many Americans are becoming too "simplistic" in their political views. That being said, we need to stop looking for reasons beyond an individual's own twisted, blighted nature when they act so heinously. This shooter did what he did because he is morally bankrupt...not because Trump, Facebook, or any other influence "made" him what he is. He had a choice on how to act, and he chose to act in opposition to every humane impulse.

If we fail to understand that, we run the risk of adopting policies that seek to prosecute thoughts and opinions, in addition to actions. To my mind, anyone who endorses that notion is advocating for the loss of freedom of speech and thought...the lack of either of which would erode everything this nation was founded upon, and everything that so many people come here seeking.
