HMS Terror shipwreck offers up secrets of lost Arctic expedition

If you watched the series "The Terror", about an ill-fated British arctic expedition seeking the Northwest Passage, you should find this story of interest. What especially caught my attention is the fact that the HMS Terror was a bomb ship, one that happened to participate in the Battle of Baltimore during the war of 1812. Bomb ships of that time were heavily constructed to withstand the force of heavy mortars. Instead of rolling across the deck, these monstrous mortars drove themselves into the heavily reinforced decks of the ship. Thus, a bomb ship was a good choice for a vessel destined to be trapped in ice and subjected to great pressures from expanding ice. BTW, if you didn't see the TV series "The Terror", I highly recommend it.
