They have attacked drunk driving, primarily through passing more stringent drunk driving laws. Were you not aware? Looking at the data, it would appear it has had some effect. If this is the corollary you are choosing, are you then advocating for tougher gun laws to see an equivalent reduction in the amount of shootings?

It has an effect until it is your family that is one of the 30th per day. Tougher gun laws wont reduce violence when you can still buy chicken shit at feed stores.

Prohibition doesn't work.

But what we really need to look at is medical care and staff. More people die from medical errors than from drunk driving and firearms combined. According to John Hopkins, over 250K people a year die from medical errors, making it the third highest cause of death in the US, behind only heart issues and cancer.

I agree with you on both points, reason for the post is data indicates 30 people die per day from drunk driving. If the real concern was to save lives, this would be on their radar. Stop selling at every neighborhood convenience store, no sells on Sunday, and only sell at liquor stores. I am far from anti alcohol myself, I just want some sanity when people talk about saving lives.
I just lost my Father-in-Law in Manila, 7,600 miles away, and could do nothing to fix the stupid shit they did. They started dialysis with a k of 3, no phos, and rising BUN to indicate he was dry. No clue what they were doing, so yes those 250K deaths is a problem that I try to address in my little world with little success. In case you still cannot see me, Byron Oyler is where you can look me up on various boards.

MAJ Byron Oyler - All of those suggestions are counter-productive. For example, making people drive a further distance to obtain their alcohol just means that drunk driving will also increase. No sales on Sunday is a response to objections by the religious.

You reduce DWIs by enforcement.

"They would attack alcohol like they do guns."
Already been done. Prohibition -- greatest fiasco in our history. Some who thought they would do their fellow man a favor (whether he wanted that favor or not) by keeping him safe, sane, and sober wound up creating a popular contempt for law, a corruption of politicians and law enforcement, and the enrichment of organized crime that continues to pervade our society today.

Yes it has been done and worked about as well as banning firearms would however they are so big on saving lives and making a difference, why are they not going after this? They could make it to where only liquor stores can sell, no selling on Sunday, and make other moves. By no means do I support this, just saying while they go after the 2nd amendment talking about saving lives and doing good they should really show they care and try to fix other problems. They don't because they want a society they can control and frankly an intoxicate person is easier to control.

MAJ Byron Oyler - I agree that we are seeing some of the same "I know better than you what is good for you and all society" in gun control advocates as was the case with the Prohibitionists.
That they ignore such more pressing problems of not only drunk driving, but the far worse plague of drug addiction, e.g. opioids, while refusing to see the DGU statistics that disrupt their anti-gun agenda, indicates the myopic view they hold .
