I suppose Linked in has its uses for some people, My advice is stay well clear of it. While farcebook has been catching flak for their misuse of peoples data, LinkedIn is far worse. Usual drill is someone signs up and next thing that happens is Linkedin has spammed everyone in your address book.

Hmmmm...I have never had it spam by address book. It has asked me if I want to link my personal contacts but I choose the option not to.

Lori Strain - It does not generally ask, but was common to do that step with the person using the service unaware. I suspect due to complaints and changes in privacy and spam laws that maybe its been improved and as you noted, they NOW ask, they did not before. I still get contact requests these days (I REFUSE to use it) But it used to happen more often years back. When I complain, some people are very surprised and were not aware their addy book was now slurped by a corporation
(A gross violation of privacy), But a few were annoyed I would not comply.
(Dont force your decisions on me, If you prefer Blueberry syrup, Dont be upset if others dont automatically cater to YOUR whims) So, This is the only social media I use, and infrequently at that.
(Because RP Is not the product they used to market it as)
