Here's my rebuttal to this article:
5. I don't see this as an end to the boom. In fact, if it's no longer profitable to sell bourbon overseas, due to the tariffs, then that production will be sold domestically. Perhaps then, all those hard-to-find bottles will become less hard-to-find, and more folks will start drinking bourbon here at home.
4. That's possible. But I doubt it. People are always looking for vices. Witness the explosion of the vaping industry. People will always want whiskey.
3. Not sure what scandal would prevent me from buying good bourbon. Can't think of a single one.
2. This is possibility. There have been a large number of accidents involving millions of gallons of whiskey in recent years. But, at the same time, distillers like Buffalo Trace, are spending tons of money to build new, state of the art storage facilities, so maybe this won't be an issue.
1. Again, it's not a problem. In fact, it's led to the creation of tons of new distilleries outside of Kentucky. It may actually be a blessing. Most of us bourbon drinkers don't care for drama. Just give us good bourbon at a decent price. We're happy.

Well, that's my two cents anyway.

I agree with you. All these points seemed like a stretch. The tariff point made no sense at all. The first thing I thought was "Good. More for me at a better price." I got to try some Pappy 15yrs a couple weeks ago but I'm looking for some Geo T. Stagg.

SSG Carlos Madden - The closest I've gotten to Pappy was some Old Rip VanWinkle 10year. It was pretty tasty, but still way out of my price range. GTS has eluded me as well. But I have had Stagg Jr., which is very good. I'd recommend it if you run across a bottle.

Sgt Rob Landers - Way ahead of you. Stagg Jr - Batch #9. Currently sipping on OF1920 while I make bacon, cheddar burgers.
