Why Last Night’s Debate Was Both Comically Bad and Painfully Annoying | National Review

Let's be honest. This isn't debating. I debated in college and I know what a real debate looks like. This is a circus, one with ten rings and ring masters who take turns setting up the acts to best advantage. Well, they do most of the time. There was a moment last night when the ABC hostess embarrassed Kamala by focusing a spotlight on her hypocrisy (the obvious differences between what she says now and what she did as Attorney General of California). I suspect ABC will be looking to hire a new hostess. I see people arguing today over who won. What a laugh. If one of these clowns were to be elected President, there would be no winner. We the People would lose. They're all climbing over each other in a dog pile trying to out crazy each other with socialistic/tyrannical promises. It saddens me that they are playing to a significant portion of this nation, possibly a bare majority, to whom these promises appeal. God help us all

Seriously, after watching the entirely of the debate once and lots of highlights and commentary afterwards, I can't come up with a single positive thing to say about that... display last night. At least in earlier debates you had sensible realists like Delaney or Gabbard to keep the loons honest with some incisive counterpoints. Now we just had Klobochar to challenge Medicare for All, and she didn't press very hard and is clearly positioning to be Biden's VP choice.
I really wish I had a viable alternative to choose from, but it looks like this will be two elections in a row where that is not the case.
