I can see why the NYTimes would use the headline it did, and why it printed the article...it fits the anti-Trump narrative. But about 3/4 the way through the article, we get to the meat of ADM McRaven's claims: Our institutions are under assault...intelligence and law enforcement, state department and the press. I recall the usurpation of the IRS, FBI, and CIA to conduct nefarious operations under the Obama administration (IRS targeting conservative non-profits, Fast and Furious, etc), and reflect on WHO, exactly, is attacking ICE and the US Border Patrol and preventing local police forces from stopping Antifa attacks...it's not our current president.

Anything beyond pundits flapping their lips? Perhaps these were just stories that play good on the interwebs and on public perception, but did not have enough substance for any tangible action beyond lip service on Fox news.

You do know that the tactic of "gun walking" started long before Obama was elected, and occured under a department in the Phoenix Arizona ATF, right? I know the little story you want to tell plays good at places like Fox News, but as I said before, if there was anything substantial to your claim, where is the criminal referral?

The then acting government of these United States willingly tried to marginalize the 2nd Amendment with Fast and Furious. Placing American civilians at risk. Congress found Holder in Contempt. But the Justice Dept. did not investigate. Perhaps, Lynch was on board the agenda too?
There are a lot of sold out government individuals gaining funding for their open border and large central government policies. It is very un-American. But it is very North American Union globalist and New Age.

Yes, they did find Holder in contempt, for withholding documents the Judge found had already been disclosed... so there is that. Also, Holder was cleared by the IG.

It's not this President that has attacked this country in an attempt to destroy it using the FBI, the CIA, the IRS and every other agency. We are definitely in swampland.

I get the impression, there are too many in Congress and the Senate getting money for re-election to keep the border open. Not good for the American citizen and helps grow a larger Central government.
