Being that the test is divided by MOS and or unit, it needs to stay with prorated points based off performance. Otherwise people will be getting promoted using different standards. The higher the ACFT score, the more promotion points.

Great point. I’ve been retired since ‘12, things have changed tremendously just in these few short years.
If it’s going to be MOS specific it has to be MOS specific. Not what type of unit you’re assigned to specific.
In my opinion I like some of the changes but it should come down to a Soldier is a Soldier is a Soldier.
What I believe is happening is it’s weeding out those that cannot truly hang. I’m ok with that.

I thought a commander could say a soldier needs to meet a certain standard for a unit, but ultimately if they meet their MOS/AOC standards then there isn’t much the commander can do to them (ie. Chapter etc.). At least that was my understanding. 1SG (Join to see)

MAJ (Join to see) sorry, by unit it would be more accurate to say formation type. A 92Y might meet his MOS standard, but if assigned to an IBCT he could be putting himself and others at risk if he cant do the Infantry standard. This is my understanding, could be wrong. We are all still waiting for final edits I guess haha.

Yeah trust me I know it would make sense for someone to have to meet the standards for fitness for the troops they would be in a combat situation with.

The example I was provided was for AMEDD say an AOC of 70B getting attached to an infantry unit. Yes the unit commander or battalion commander could say that soldier needs to make black standards since he part of that unit, but that soldier could still just meet the gold standard for his AOC of 70B and the commander wouldn’t be able to flag him or do anything to him administratively for not meeting the black infantry standard on the ACFT. Now that doesn’t mean the commander couldn’t do other things to “persuade” said soldier to meet the higher standards.

At this point though with the actual test not being the standard until almost a year from now it’s anyone’s guess how it will play out. 1SG (Join to see)

"So, if I go to Ranger School, maybe I get more promotion points," he said. "We are looking at maybe taking that down and then maybe give you more points if you score expert with your rifle because that is soldier lethality."

Seems to me not all MOS's are in line to go to Ranger School. I was in Signal and when I was in I asked about what it takes to go to Ranger School, my CO said it was almost impossible to go from where I was stationed (Ft Gordon).. I guess if I had been at Bragg it would have been easier?
