‘Grit’ more important to success than brains and brawn, West Point study finds

There are minimum requirements of strength/endurance and certainly intelligence/scholarship. But that doesn't explain the difference in success rates; what does is "grit" or resilience. A person's ability to stick it out, to try again and again until successful.
