LTJG Richard Bruce - Then they are in the wrong business. A hospital is not a place of worship but a place of healing regardless of religion.

LCpl Joe Orawczyk - Good point. What if our medics refused to convey help to another person for religious reasons.

LTJG Richard Bruce - no one is forcing them to work for that particular health care organization, and there are plenty of health care jobs that are in areas that would not cause them to have to make that choice. But in the health care field, you don't neglect the patient, you treat him or her.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Protected Classes: Under federal law, employers cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, or disability. So Trump wanted to break a federal law. Brilliant!

I have cared for some pretty despicable people but I have NEVER treated them any differently than I would a family member. If you arent prepared to deal with patients who are unlike you, you need to find another career. There are various disparities in health care and this just codifies these disparities under the guise of religious freedom.

Reading the opinion, it will be hard for an appellate court to overturn. HHS exceeded its statutory authority repeatedly in the regulation, and the only possible solution is to vacate the regulation.

Capt Gregory Prickett - It appears that HHS has been corrupted by Trump regardless of ethics and laws. Trump wants his way carte blanche by edict alone. It is finally evolving from bitching about his policies to taking him to court over his tyrannical decisions.
