As I'm often saying, "they" know everything... about everyone... already. My best guess is Bushnell is trying to up their high-end sales the better to compete with the used market (eBay, etc.) and cheap clones (guilty as charged). If it's a 1% discount on a $400 scope... that may not be worth the effort, but 5-10% would certainly get my attention.
