The impeachment is going to happen because it takes place in the House and that's where the majority happens to be Democrat. The other question is whether or not he will be removed by the Senate because that's where the Republicans have the majority.

SSG Robert Mark Odom - I would not bet money that Articles clear the House. Holding a majority does not get you a guaranteed win. Indeed, far from it. There have been obvious cracks in the party as this goes on, and I would wager the discussions are lively behind closed doors. In the end, I think they chicken out, because at their core, politicians are driven by maintaining their power. Risk-taking is not a virtue that gets rewarded in their chosen profession. I suspect this will wind up in a censure vote around Christmas.
As for the Majority in the Senate, that is not relevant. The necessary vote is a 2/3 supermajority. If every Democrat voted for removal - very much in doubt - it would take 20 Republicans to support removal to pass. That is simply not going to happen, and everyone knew that from the get-go.
The real question is how bipartisan will the no vote be in the House - so far, there have been two nays from Dems on even greenlighting the present proceedings. I don't know how many Representatives want to put their political career on the line for something that won't succeed on "principle". Principles are not exactly the coin of the realm in Washington DC.
In the Senate, the most likely outcome is a short proceeding where they collect testimony from folks the GOP couldn't subpoena in the House to embarrass the perpetrators of this gong show, then a largely party-line dismissal.
Could be they just vote for dismissal almost immediately.
Could be they draw this out (I hope not) in order to extract a political price from the several Senators running for higher office by pulling them off the campaign trail as Iowa and New Hampshire loom.
We shall see if it gets that far.

1SG (Join to see) - I originally shared your opinion of hoping for an immediate dismissal in the Senate, but I think I've changed my mind. And it's not about keeping Democrat Senator candidates tied to their offices in Washington DC, either, though that is an amusing side-benefit.
No, if the House impeaches, I want to see the Senate conduct a real trial using real evidence. I want to see them ban the use of hearsay "evidence" and require the testimony of the "whistle-blower" as well as Schiff and his staff.
And if any leaks can be traced back to Schiff or his staff, I want to see him lose his clearance.
