SN Greg Wright - Nope. Great Service member. SEAL officer selection comes from all branch service academies and not just Navy. She made it through selection but was not selected as she did not indicate SEALS as her career path.

Still an accomplishment for the service member and the young lady.

Except the USCG, they sent a few and at least a couple made it through BUDS, but as time passed and the USCG mission was better understood, it was realized the mission was too different, as it was more defensive in nature. I understand they still use some elements of BUDS, but combine it with customized elements focused more on counter terrorism and infiltration.

SSG Brian G. - That is not so. SEAL officers only come from USNA, USN ROTC or USN OCS candidates. And even if it WAS so, they would have to leave their service and join the Navy...becoming a Sailor. So...yes. Great Sailor. There are no Airmen, Soldiers, or Marines in the Seals. Period.

The program PO1 Dougherty describes was discontinued early in the decade, but even those few were Sailors.

SN Greg Wright - They would only have to join the Navy IF they got selected. As her career path indicated she was not amenable to being a SEAL. Not the case here.
