i don't see trump extending the agreement. i believe he will give putin whatever he asks for

Is every year pivotal on arms control? I think this dates back to the end of WWII and we went our separate ways.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. The Russians have aging strategic forces that are actually subject to existing arms agreements, and several new systems in development that are not. The new systems are the threat. Their bombers can barely fly. Their ballistic subs are rusting at the docks. Their only aircraft carrier is on fire in the shipyard. The Russian's readiness is a joke.
But they want us to think that it isn't, even as their new cool-guy stuff blows up on the Launchpad.
They are working feverishly to update their equipment, but they are simply not there.
