Placement using smaller calibers. You can kill a bear with a 22 caliber. But you must be close enough to shoot him inside his mouth shooting up the upper part of the mouth into his brain, or straight to the back of his mouth severing his spine. Sorry but I don't want to be that close to him. As your running away you can shoot your buddy in the knee that should allow you to escape. LOL

I pack a lot heavier day to day. When in bear country I pack my 44 mag 6 shot revolver. It kicks like a mule but when you need the punch its there.

when waking the dog around the house, I carry a .357 sig and when I am in Bear country, I pack Bear Spray, easier to shoot and I dont have to worry as much about my aim with a 1000lbs or more bear running at me.
