I'm not a genius by any stretch, but I think from "P.C." culture, to "Climate Change", none of the Left's rhetoric is about "compassion" or "fairness". Rather, I believe it's about controlling the masses. A century ago, not many people had a college education; now, a bachelor's degree is about on par with a high school diploma. When coal and steam were driving industry, manpower was critical; now, the western work force is predominantly involved in service or administrative labor. The population is exploding, the cost of living is skyrocketing, and it's likely a whole lot "easier" for the system if the vast majority of "us" accept mediocrity.

Add into that equation the inference that our leaders are with increasing frequency, rising from a select cadre of elite families...and it doesn't take a doctorate to put two and two together; they view us as little more than serfs. They coast into Ivy League schools to get their expected legal degrees. They do their obligatory "time" building resumes as activists, organizers, etc. They walk into lower seats in the halls of power. They...not us, hold the keys to every institution from the White House and Congress, to Parliament. Sadly, they've even created a class of middling actuaries who, for a relative pittance...are willing to promote their notions of academic and ideological elitism.

Perhaps their most stunning achievement (probably learned the hard way after bloody revolutions in places like France and Russia) was pitting us against one another along imagined lines of economic, racial, and religious hatred. While we're manning picket lines and yes-wasting time posting on social media; they are managing the information...placing us in camps with labels like "Republican" or "Democrat", "Labor" or "Conservative". They have us willingly voting away our rights because we need to be "woke"...or conversely, seeing threats behind every corner until we're willing to cast aside any semblance of cooperation or compromise. "Right" or "Left"...we're largely pawns in a game where "they" write the rules. If I wanted to go on, I might even suggest that they've even figured out how to get us to volunteer to fight their wars...yet return too confused, broken, and dependent to "fight" for ourselves.

That's why people are starting to say, "no". No to regulations that given token deference to "environmentalism"...while pouring billions of tax dollars into the arms industry, and possibly indirectly into the vast pharmaceuticals industry. No to laws that claim to be for "public safety", but ultimately place the public at the mercy of the least expensive security measures. No to policies that promote "justice" by vilifying anything that challenges the state's role as the number one authority in our lives...be that family, faith, or individuality.

Ultimately, they have one more ace in the deck...our naivety. A thirsty person will drink anything...even poison. What worries me most about my country today isn't the current field of incumbents and up-and-comers...but who may be waiting in the wings.
