Don't they have anything better to do?
Prayers have been said before every legislative session in Congress since the founding.
I don't know what the record is in states. but here in MN it happens every time too.

So I guess some organization that didn't even hear the prayer should bitch about it, right?

1SG (Join to see) - An invited clergyman has nothing to do with the subject of the post. Try to keep up, a governor of a state cannot make a religiously based proclamation. Second, it doesn't matter if the State has something in its Constitution, the Establishment Clause has been incorporated as to the States (Everson, 1947).

Capt Gregory Prickett - So why does both Houses of Congress begin every session with an ecumenical prayer? Are they (insert joke here) scofflaws?

1SG Jason Hastings - then you haven't been paying attention. I've covered the delusional views of the Muslims just as I have of the Christians, for example the idea that Muhammad rode to heaven on a winged horse, or that he ascended into heaven from the Dome of the Rock, or their support of slavery, and so on. I've covered that most Buddhists are also atheists, but their supernatural beliefs are without support, and so on. There are far more posts on Christians, because they are the ones in power and who seek to inject their religious beliefs into law.

Next, the Judeo-Christian god is also the Muslim god, they all spring from the patriarch Abraham. And the term "Judeo-Christian" was invented by Christians in an attempt to tie Christianity to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, when neither was part of such an ideological founding. You should read Seidel's book on the issue, particularly the third chapter, where this is covered in depth.

1SG (Join to see) - that's a rabbit trail, and you know it. You're smarter than that, but if you insist, I can show the background of both.
