Iranian military says it 'unintentionally' shot down Ukrainian plane

"We didn't shoot the plane down. Oh. Our bad. Yea. We did shoot it down. Human error....you understand?"

The situation sounds a lot like when the US Navy shot down one of their passenger planes in 1988

Sadly this is collateral damage during a combat mission. In Vietnam more civilians were killed than enemy combatants on both sides combined. This is a very heavy cost.
