I would have loved to have been in Delta Force. Not that I could have have made it.

From what I here OTC is tough - 40 mile timed ruck much like Q course - you get to your way point only to be told to go to new way point - not knowing when it will end until it ends.

SPC David S. - We had something similar when I went through the Phase One FTX in 1969 -- only you could cheat. Hey, cheating was the SF way. They gave you all the azimuths and distances at the beginning. So if you happened to have an 82C Artillery Surveying Specialist in your group that everyone made fun of for not being an 11 Bang-bang, he could work out the location and go directly to the pick up point -- but not tell anyone because he was (and still is) an A-hole. After all the 11 bang-bangs apologized for making fun of him when they started missing the way points and admitting they weren't so smart after all, he gave in and led them to the pick up point. I guess SF figured that out after my time and made a change.

That book re: Beckwith and initial selection for Delta - spoke of a SGM who starting on a Land Nav test was headed out on his back azimuth - ? did you read that part?
