My personal opinion: when we pass a law outlawing personal taste, what kind of a country are we? Where does it stop? Head dress? Tats? Clothing? I honestly just don’t know.

SFC (Join to see) - in regards to the wrestling referee, of course there rules hair length/style. As you mentioned, what if it gets pulled during a match?
The thing is, that kids hair wasn’t out of regs. Additionally, it wasn’t any longer than a lot of other kids (possibly white) with that goofy shaggy look that the kids are doing these days. I’ll give you three guesses as to if those kids also had to cut their hair. However, you might only need one.
With a little back story; the kid wrestled at previous meets with the same hair. Not an issue. The referee had previously been to sensitivity training for using a racial slur towards a colleague.
(*the hair issue comes up a lot at wrestling matches. That’s why kids are allowed to tie their hair up, or wear a head cover. The ref said no to both options and only offered haircut and forfeit as options. 100% wrong).

SGT (Join to see) - Obviously this Official needs to be on the outside looking in. In this case forfeit is the option, and then make an appeal, it would definitely be successful. I really hope this referee is a former referee now.

SFC James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" - nonsense. That’s the haircut of freedom. Just ask Iran.

If it’s good enough for JCVD, or this other gentleman (name unknown), it’s good enough for all of us.

*additionally, I might hesitate on hiring either of them, solely due to their incredibly awesome, freedom loving haircuts.

SFC James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" - honestly? Yes. For me, Humor helps put a potentially hot-button topic in an easier way to discuss. But yes. Anyone who said that to a certain degree, looks don’t matter is a liar. You’ve never seen a judge with a Mr.T style Mohawk/beard combo. You’ve never seen an astronaut with a Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein (guitarist from The Misfits) haircut. Etc.

An interesting real life scenario is the grooming standard policy of the New York Yankees. It’s still in in force, and also silly enough that the Simpsons tv show mocked it on an episode about 25 years ago.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t support discrimination. At all.
But I’m not sure if certain hairstyles should become a protected class unto themselves.
