Bye-Bye to BRRRRT: Air Force Wants to Retire 44 A-10 Warthogs

Think that's impossible, doubt the tooling even exists anymore.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - Our nephew was in the Army and did several tours to Sandboxes East and West. He was always stationed in the mountains when in Sandbox East and had to call in for air support on a regular basis. As he said, don't send me an F, get me a Warthog. Lol!!

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - They regularly had RPGs lobbed at them from various places in the mountains, so he would call in air support to take care of that issue. Several times they sent out F jets which couldn't get the job done because of the terrain. So that's why he wanted Warthogs. That and the sound of a Warthog usually sent the enemy running.
My husband regularly called in F-4s in Nam. His story was one time the F-4 came in hot and really low to take out a sniper that had the company pinned down. As the pilot took out the sniper he pulled back hard on the stick and hit the after burner, which started that jungle area on fire. Hubby radioed him and asked if he smoked Camels or Winstons. Reply back: Lucky Strikes.

Not sure that's possible, dont think the tooling exists anymore. But I totally agree.
