Canned Heat Says They Got Left Behind by GEICO's Ad
Going Up the Country is used in a commercial for GEICO, but Canned Heat isn't seeing any of the royalties.

They broke the law and got busted, they sold their song rights to raise bail. Cry me a river. Nobody twisted their arms, they willfully did it all of their own volition.

Enjoyed their set in Woodstock. I didn't go. It would have required running away from home and having my plate broken for good. Not ready at 13. One kid from our town went, but he was a few years older. Later blew himself up playing with explosives in the back forty. A fledgling chemist while it lasted.

My buddy wanted to pull our 4-H project money out of the bank and run off to it. Long story, but it was a bad time for my Dad, I said no. Been kicking myself ever since. Because of me, Larry never got to swim with naked hippy chicks.
