Well, I’m a combat Vereran with 32 years in the medical arena, 25 as a medical planner and 20 as a logistician and operations officer! I got experience in Continuity of Oppwrations planning and response as well as Business Continuity planning and response. Thanks be spent time at the Red Cross NHQ and was OER if the Pandemic (and other National disaster scenarios) planning; took part in the NRP rewrite to the NRF and the formation of the NIMS framework.
I disagree with the statement and premis if this article. The response is hard, but effective. Many of the statements made are false; the leadership taught within our military is true, but not wholly applicable to the POTUS or this response!

What does a "Combat Vet" have to do with anything? A combat vet can be a cook that fell out of a jeep in a conflict, a clerk going to the latrine during a rocket attack, etc. I'm confused. I try never to play the Por little me combat veteran, 14.6 months in VN, 3 unit major campaign ribbons / citations, 2 purple hearts, and a mess of other dodas of so called "valor of Combat Decorations ". which mean absolutely nada if you didn't learn anything from it. So don't use that Combat Vet justification on folks like me. it's pure dodo, combat is supposed to teach you the value of life and ability to recognize reality from Bull S..t. It is folks like yourself that manufactures had to put "take by mouth" on a bottle of aspirins, do not use in your eyes on a shampoo bottle, keep out of reach of children on a shotgun. etc.

I am not sure whether this veteran misunderstood or deliberately misquoted the President. He did not say it would all go back to normal business as usual on Easter Sunday. He did say that different places require different responses...where there are no cases, things can and should open up, people need to continue to take care and abide by safety rules, etc.

What does being a veteran or combat vet make you an expert at? The only thing I became an expert on while in Afghanistan is understanding how evil mankind can be to each other. Children and landmines do not go well together.
