However you slice it she screwed up and this is now making the nation look bad for covering her with a questionable diplomatic immunity (Should be cut and dry. You have it or you don't). Gotta question the integrity of a citizen with immunity that hides behind it for something like this.

I can see this complicating future international agreements that cover dependents abroad...and for good reason seeing how this is going.

Guess she can turn in her passports. Doesn't sound like she'll be traveling abroad anytime soon.

It's not a "questionable" diplomatic immunity. She held a diplomatic passport as the wife of a diplomat.

Yep. Word is she was advised by legal to return home before local law officials could properly investigate. If that’s true that just makes US look even worse.

IF she had any decency, she would turn herself in. She killed a person through her actions.

Edit - I edited out my comments about her being drunk. A breathalyzer was done at the scene of the crime, but there have been no results reported.

GySgt Dawson Webb -No prob, made me go back and look. With the state of "journalism" these days, errors seems to get multiplied.

LT Brad McInnis I only remember original reporting stating she was driving on the wrong side of the road. Didn’t know if she was under the influence or a negligent brain fart by an American forgetting what country she’s in. Either way, doesn’t change the detail that she left country after an initial interview with law enforcement. You’re correct. She fled like a criminal.

MAJ James Woods - I just remember the times a sailor broke a law overseas, we left them to face the charges. If it is good enough for a young, or old sailor, then it is good enough for a politicians wife, too.

LT Brad McInnis SOFA isn’t the same as diplomatic immunity. Depending on the crime/offense, US government can decide to waive jurisdiction and give to local authorities or prosecute under US jurisdiction. Those under diplomatic immunity can escape both if their government is that selfish and entitled.
