The Mind as we commonly know it is made up of the preception of the sense organs and relates to the ego identity. On a large scale, Buddhists refer to this as Mara or the world of illusion. Our eyes are very limited in the colors they can see, as our ears are very limited in the sounds they can hear. Our human experiences are limited to the senses.

If we Meditate, we can free ourselves from Mara and experience a reality beyond the senses and the self. This is the goal, to free us from Mara and put us in touch with a world beyond the self.
