I find this one hard to believe. Kennedy's PT 59 was sunk. Why would someone salvage it and haul it back just for fishing charters or a houseboat. There were many PT boats that survived the war and they would have been admirable choices for these purposes (if you cared to spend all that money on fuel - each had three huge engines - or surrendered most of the below deck space for the engines). However, the PT boats that survived the war (unsunk) were beached and burned. So, if it isn't economical to cart one of those back home, why waste the money on one that had been cut in half and sunk? It would be many years before JFK was elected President and anyone cared about his PT boat. BTW, the PT boat featured in JFK's inaugural parade was a replica (and note that it was PT 109)
