6 Less Well Known Facts About The Infamous Battle of the Somme

Great post sir. I've had an interest in the Somme for a long time. I was able to visit both a few WWI battle sites in EUCOM as well as the Meuse- Argonne National Cemetery. Interestingly, at Meuse - Argone, the cemetery (per the AMBC historian there) sits in the main battle area (MBA). I grew up as a BN CHEMO and worked S3 Current Ops 01-03 before transitioning to Civil Affairs/PSYOP. The Armistace was 98 years ago. And 98 years ago armies were hurling themselves at one another as they had since the Molkte and the Franco Prussian war. Would love to hear more WWI anecdotes sir.
