6 Russian warplanes enter South Korean air defense zone as South Korea scrambles fighter jets

I'm surprised Russia was able to muster six operational aircraft in their far east area. Historically, readiness out there has always been a problem.
I would guess that the Russians are about as interested in demonstrating that they can even fly a patrol to themselves as they are probing air defenses and provoking responses.
Another possibility is that they are trying to do some SIGINT collection in order to update their jamming and EW capabilities.

This crap has been going on since 1950 by both sides. My fear is some fool will make a wrong move and the whole thing blows up.
