Trump Says Wisconsin Shipyard’s ‘Location’ Swayed Navy’s Frigate Award

One would think a statement like the one he made would be problematic and encourage the other defense contractors to challenge the awarding of the contract citing this very public statement. I'm confident the Navy isn't dumb enough to bring politics into this but this just seems like a foolish thing to hear or read.

Seeing as how they were previously building the Littoral Combat Ship there, It is logical that they assume a frigate contract.

Yes though unlikely election politics played a role, if I was on the losing end of the contract process I’d challenge the ruling using the things Trump publicly said arguing there was bias in the selection process. Two very Red rural states that could use the jobs but it went to a swing state during an election year would be the basis of their argument. It’s incompetence for any government official to publicly suggest there was bias in the selection process.
