Sadly, this is typical in an officer-involved shooting. The family is almost always going to view a video as if it only shows the facts that support their narrative, and it almost never does. This shooting was justifiable and the officers are not going to be charged. Whitaker came to the door and came outside with a gun in his hand. Seconds later he was dead because one of the two officers legitimately feared for his partner's life.

Having said that, the criminal part of this investigation should be handled by an outside agency, like the county or Arizona DPS, and the DA should recuse, using an outside prosecutor. Then the report, if the officers are not prosecuted (they should be no-billed by the grand jury), should be released to the public, with appropriate redactions.
