"Trump is president because he was willing to listen to those voters [working-class voters] and seriously take up their cause" - Did he though? What "cause", exactly? For years, the republican party has been anti-union. Unions were formed specifically to look out for the workers and working class interests. I think you will find Trump, and the Republican party in general, to be decidedly anti-union, so you will have to explain to me how they are taking up the cause or causes of the working class. Up front, I understand there is potential for union abuses, just like there is potential for management and corporate abuses and abuse of public office, so what I want to really get at is what causes Trump has fought for in the interest of the "working-class"?

I can only go by what I see - which apparently is what you don't see. You see a different picture. All great questions. I don't have the pontificated answers for them. What I can answer is, I saw more money in my pocket. I see 2 justices sitting on the bench that don't use a living (changing) definition of law (our Constitution), I see more work coming back to the US in companies I personally deal with (a whole call center coming back to MI for instance).

Your observation on children - he is attacked for stating over and over that LEOs need to be out there yet you want more done for the kids that are killed when cities are cutting their LEOs? You are OK with "mostly peaceful protests" that have already killed children? You're ok with black on white crime when BLM is yelling that it does not matter unless it is white on black crime? Give me a break.

SSgt (Join to see) - I have never heard BLM yell that, but as you say, you see a different picture. I am sure how you perceive SCOTUS judges ruling on law is also informed by that picture. If you would like to give an example for a case or cases citing both the majority and dissenting opinion and how you feel it equates to the law, I would be willing to listen, but doubt it would reveal anything.

We can agree to disagree, but it is certain that Trump's political party does not resemble the Republican party before he came into office. Maybe that is okay with you, but I would caution you that the man leading the party has been attached to numerous fraud endeavors. People don't say "Trump University" with reverence. Why you feel such a man would change his stripes and stop serving himself in service of the country is beyond me. Many, many current and former Republicans have been able to see through it. I can respect your loyalty though I feel it is at your own detriment over the long term, and the detriment of the country as a whole.

Ok. Agree to disagree. Out of curiosity, without using Trump, who would you vote for in November and why? I cannot in any way get behind Biden. 45 or so years to make a difference and what is his record? As far as I am concerned, pretty miserable. I have not found an Independent to get behind as, so far, none of them tick enough of my boxes. If there is someone running, and on the ticket, I have overlooked, or not looked deeply enough into, who would it be.

SSgt (Join to see) - I will be voting for Biden. I know the right wing media is aflame trying hard to tear the man down, but that is about the only move they have left. They certainly don't have a lot of their side of the fence to run on, so the strategy is to make the other guy appear worse. Trump will try to run on the economy and unemployment, but if you look at the numbers, all he managed to do was sustain a healthy economy ... right up until he was faced with a crisis he couldn't lie or bullshit his way out of.

You say "45 or so years to make a difference"... What sort of difference are you looking for or expecting? The country has changed a lot in 45 years, and so have a lot of Biden's views, so he is either adaptable to the times, or a flip-flopper. Depends on who is writing the story. But I am curious, what great accomplishments would you be looking for from a state Senator and Vice President?

I will be voting for Biden primarily because I believe at his core he is a decent person. He is a centrist, and I feel he has the ability to negotiate to the middle. Neither the left nor the right will be entirely happy, but they may be closer to the other at the end of the day. I believe he will consider more than just the people that voted for him, will not go on Twitter to denigrate his opposition, and will fill the most important role of all.... acting presidential while maintaining competent professionals in his cabinet, will listen to them, and not be scared they are getting too much of the attention.
